An Excerpt From "BET ON PETS"
Pet-themed products are taking an increasingly larger bite of the card-and-stationery pie.

Kim A. Banks, principal of The Pet Set, whose tagline is "Elegant Cards & Stationery for our Fabulously Socialized Companions"says that the most popular types of pet cards are dog birthday cards, thank-you cards for groomers and dog walkers, and bereavement cards.
According to Hallmark, 62 percent of pet owners sign card and letters from both themselves and their pet, and 79 percent give their pet holiday or birthday presents. Many pet owners and their friends and families send birthday cards to pets, as well as cards from their pet to someone special. "Happy Birthday from Spot" is one of the most popular types of pet-themed cards on the market. The Pet Set's Banks believes that as pets "become regarded more and more as members of the family, cards and correspondence products will continue to grow."
